Creosote EDP

$145.00 USD
A cool, aromatic desert fragrance.

Fresh and cooling, Creosote opens with herbal green brightness before revealing unexpected smoky leather facets and subtle aquatic notes. It captures the freshness of rain hitting the Sonoran Desert—that moment when everything transforms from heat to fresh coolness.

Sage and desert willow add botanical depth, while a mineral-like freshness evokes the desert's unique soil. Highly versatile, it works beautifully whether you're at work or out with friends.

Creosote was the very first accord I ever attempted as a beginning perfumer—and it failed spectacularly. Swampy, dank, nothing like the fresh miracle of desert rain I was trying to capture.

But I grew up here in the Sonoran Desert, and that scent has been part of my life since childhood. I have memories of walking barefoot through channels of runoff after summer monsoons, as the air dropped 20 degrees and the whole landscape transformed. So I had to keep trying

For sixteen years, every time I evaluated a new material, I wondered if it could be the missing piece. The creosote bush itself is tricky—it doesn't smell particularly "natural." There are green, leafy notes, sure, but also guaiacol (the same smoky note in leather accords), hints of turpentine and tar, plus an aquatic freshness when you crush the leaves.

After all this time, I've settled on this version—not a photorealistic recreation, but the essence of what desert rain actually feels like.

Sage, galbanum, clove bud, desert willow, guaiacwood, petrichor, cedar, amber, creosote bush.

Wide open spaces, epic sunsets, vibing.

This becomes a lovely skin scent.

Although I always enjoy the smell of rain (especially on cement), I would normally avoid scents with Petrichor. They would normally come out too earthy-smelling or overpower the other notes.
Creosote by FZOTIC has found a lovely balance of the Petrichor within this fragrance. In the first spritz, one can smell the rain hitting the desert ground, then, magically, the scent blends into a soft woody floral finish.

So glad it's back!

This scent quickly became my favorite daily fragrance and grateful it's available again. It's hard to pick a Fzotic favorite, but this may be it!

unique and conceptual fragrance

Super unique and very conceptual fragrance. It’s smoky, herbaceous, fresh, and a little resinous, but the sage note is most prominent on my skin. Ultimately I like smelling it on someone else more than on myself, so it made a great gift for my partner!

Reminds me of home

My boyfriend introduced me to FZOTIC, his favorite perfumer, with this scent. As a Tucson native, the smell of creosote after the rain is my all-time favorite smell, so I was thrilled to discover something so special made in my home city that also reminded me of childhood summers spent wandering through washes and running in the rain.

I recently moved away from the desert and every time I smell this scent (whether on me or him) I feel at home ❤️

Every Day Scent

The descriptor of that unusual scent prior to a southwestern deluge struck a chord with me and now I wear Creosote daily. For me it's the summer version of Lamp Black, which is my FAVORITE scent.

Smells like rhe description, love it.

I'm really loving this perfume! It's been hot and unusually muggy in Southern California this summer, and this scent has been perfect for keeping me smelling fresh in this oppressive weather. My husband rarely comments on perfumes that I wear but tells me how good I smell each time I spritz this one on. Another fantastic blind buy from Fzotic.

For a muggy fall day

I feel this will be best worn on a muggy fall day in SF. Our weather has been way too cold this summer to bring out the fiber aspects of Creosote.

Great scent

Great scent. I would classify it as a fresh aquatic in the air, but on the skin and up close it’s very woodsy. Really interesting fragrance that somehow tends to ever evolve on the nose. There’s a wonderful balance here and I find it easy to wear. I have never blind bought a scent, but I did get the 9ml of this. My only regret is not getting the full size bottle. This is one I’ll wear year round and I hope Bruno makes this a permanent staple as I’ll buy the bottle when I kill the travel size!

Love, bought 2 bottles and a travel size!

Love this scent on my husband. As an AZ native he misses home while we're in Colorado. Little piece of home while we're away!

Creosote is fantastic!

I ordered Creosote solely on the strength of the description on Fzotic’s website, and I love it. It’s dry and desert-y and herbal on first spritz, the petrichor note is spot on, and it gets slightly sweeter as it develops (maybe the creosote bush?). It’s perfect for summer weather. I think that fans of Lampblack would enjoy Creosote as well.

An earthy herbal love note to the desert

I've been wearing and getting to know creosote for the last few weeks. It's an earthy herbal love note to the desert. It's unfussy effortless quiet luxury.

What a beautiful and intriguing scent! This took

What a beautiful and intriguing scent! This took me on a journey, opening with leather and sage and then mellowing into a spiced aquatic/petrichor/desert scent. It smells exactly like what I’ve experienced of rainstorms in Tucson. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase and will look forward to getting a FB soon because I’m one week I’ve gone through half the travel size!

Creosote EDP feels fresh and electric

Creosote EDP feels fresh and electric. The dry-down lingers just enough for me throughout the day. Vetiverissimo is my other fave, Lamp Black too.

Echoes of Monserrat

Pleasant but not what I had hoped for. I grew up near marinas and the smell of actual creosote is weirdly alluring to me as is the scent of tarweed - a resinous california native that becomes wildly fragrant when the rains come in late autumn. Reminiscent of Monserrat so I will enjoy wearing it.

I’m absolutely loving Creosote. I’m a devoted wearer of Lamp Black and am excited to add this very special FZOTIC creosote to my collection. Definitely reminds me of summers in Tucson. monsoon season for the win!!

Creosote <3

Like so many Fzotic fragrances it's hard to put into words, but this is a beautiful fragrance that is my new summer scent! Fresh without being cloying, there's a lot to love.

Creosote

I’m loving Creosote! I don’t blind buy too often but this was a success! It gives me that feeling of an impending storm when there’s water hanging in the air and it feels cool and warm at the same time. That mixed with herbal, earthy notes and I get a little anise as well. Beautiful and complex and it really blooms in New Orleans summer heat.

Creosote is special...

My two favorite Fzotic scents are Unsettled and Vetiverissimo. I seek earthy notes. Creosote is lovely. You really can sense the layers of scent, and I adore the concept of bottling a desert storm. Suitable for everyone who isn't afraid to wear something with depth! Highly sensual.

My Second Bottle!

This is my second bottle of Creosote! I was so happy when it was released again that I picked up a new bottle and a travel size. It's a wonderful fragrance and having lived in the Southwest most of my life it brings back fond memories and I love it!

Gorgeous summer scent!

I’ve never been to Arizona, but Creosote makes me want to. I was looking for a fresh summer scent that didn’t immediately read as harsh or overly aquatic, and this is the herbal tonic I needed! Happy to have Creosote join Lilac Brûlée and Vetiverissimo in my lil’ Fzotic collection.

LOVE Fzotic perfumes! Love Creosote!

LOVE Fzotic perfumes! Found the sampler set at the Anchorage Museum back in 2018 and have been purchasing, both to use myself and to gift to others, ever since. Have moved away from department store perfumes and it has led me to experiment more with small perfume brands but Fzotic perfumes are most definitely my go to! Fzotic has done a nice job dropping new scents (which is how I discovered Creosote ❤️), and sadly, sometimes retiring scents. I am hoarding my last bit of Unsettled 🥲. I get compliments all the time about the scents I am wearing. Great products! Great company!

Somehow Classic and Entirely New At The Same Time

This is such an excellent addition to our Fzotic collection! My husband and I share most of our Fzotic fragrances and this is no exception. The initial petrichor is so realistic and moody and the sharp greens are divine. The dry down here is my favorite part. It is fresh and clean but a little resinous, it's a spiritual successor to familiar classic men's fragrances but it easily manages that without feeling basic or expected. It reminds me of sitting on a porch in Terlingua, freshly showered after a long day in the dust, watching a thunderstorm roll in. Beautifully done! This will definitely be a staple for us.

Smells just like desert rain!

I’m an Arizona native, and this perfume really captures the smell of desert rain. I spray it on, close my eyes, and imagine thunderclouds on the horizon.

Fresh Spring Desert

I was expecting a Phoenix thunderstorm, but instead got a fresh spring hike in the Ahwatukee hills before the over population. This is a very green and fresh creosote, not the dark stormy dusty desert. Beautiful scent.

One of my favorites in my collection and probably my favorite Fzotic alongside Monserrat. Starts off with creamy cactus, earthy mushroom, wet sand, and then becomes warm and woody. Longevity is 6+ hours.
