Commissioned by the Nevada Museum of Art, the scent is an olfactory retelling of the sandalwood and tea trade history in the South Pacific. That story is a little too long to tell here. All you really need to know is that this fragrance will carry you off to the tropics, wherever you happen to be.

Unsettled" was an exciting group show at the Nevada Museum of Art about a large geographical area, including the South Pacific. When the curator commissioned me to make a fragrance, I decided to model the scent on the idea of a cocktail, which makes something delicious by unifying spirits and flavors from around the world.

I began by searching for a base note from this area and discovered the surprising history of trade between Pacific islanders and Australian colonizers for native sandalwood trees. This history also involved trade with China for black tea.

In our time, local islanders in New Caledonia now grow sustainable sandalwood that is helping to reduce the deforestation of this now endangered tree. That essential oil is used in Unsettled.

From there, it was a direct line towards a tropical cocktail, folding the crisp black tea into a gourmand fragrance that includes fruity pineapple and a light marine note.
Bergamot, black tea, clary sage, pineapple, New Caledonian sandalwood, labdanum, vanilla, ocean breezes.

Delightfully Deep

This fragrance definitely took me by surprise. You can definitely smell the sweeter notes initially but as the dry down happens it becomes a beautifully deep and gentle fragrance. I didn’t expect to love the pineapple so much in this fragrance profile. A new favorite of mine for sure.
