Corpse Reviver takes its name from a 1920s hangover cocktail, but the real starting point was Cadavre Exquis, an experimental collaboration I made with the Italian niche perfumer, Antonio Gardoni. We wanted to see how far the gourmand idea could stretch: into chocolate, herbs, bitters, and the stranger corners of what counts as “edible.”

For this version, I dialed the animalics down to a level I find more wearable and added a whiskey accord built on a remarkable French oakwood absolute. It has a dense, sticky warmth that smells like bourbon, caramel, and charred wood.

It’s still an unconventional fragrance, but it has a comfort to it; rich, odd, and very human in the way it comes together.
