A top seller year after year, Lampblack is a fusion of darkness and light. Inky cypriol root blends with sweet orange, bitter grapefruit, and crisp black pepper, creating an industrial-chic atmosphere. The scent conjures a printmaker's studio with some oud wafting in the air.

Lampblack launched my career as a perfumer. I created it for an exhibition of small ink paintings that featured opaque, black India Ink contrasting with transparent, vivid colors. The art was dark and shadowy but also glowed with light and color.
Lampblack gets its name from Lampblack pigment which is used to make India Ink. Historically, it was made with soot collected from oil-burning lamps.
For the fragrance, I developed an accord that smelled like ink. I used the essential oil of nagarmotha, a root related to vetiver, which has a slight petroleum odor. I wanted it to have the almost industrial smell of a printmaker's workshop. As a contrast, I added a sparkling citrus accord to give it shimmering brightness.

Great Scent
Based off of the sample, I ordered a full bottle. I enjoy the one-offness of this scent and how well it comes together. This has pulled me away from my typical "Green" scents (polo,aventus,curveball,envy) that I wear often. This smells as described in a wonderful way. Bruno FTW.

Three weeks after order timed to arrive for Xmas - USPS has still not delivered - they should be using a more reliable delivery service!!
We understand how frustrating and disappointing this situation is, especially since your order was meant to be a Christmas gift. Having to wait three weeks beyond the expected delivery date is truly unacceptable. Upon investigation, it looks like your order was marked as a 'Failed Delivery' on December 26th.
You're absolutely right about USPS's performance in this case. In our 10 years of business, this level of delay is unprecedented - we've consistently provided reliable shipping services to our customers. While we carefully prepare and hand off all packages to USPS in a timely manner, this particular situation falls far short of what we expect of USPS's service standards.

An instant favorite
The description piqued my curiosity and my skepticism about this fragrance but at first waft the skepticism was replaced with embrace while the curiosity remained. The ink accord and grapefruit dance together in the smoky heart of the deep black scent. If your wardrobe features any black, you need Lampblack in your life. And if it doesn’t, you will still enjoy it and revel in the beautiful hand crafted frangrance.
